Full circle AKA High Primary Compression (HPC) crankshafts, crankshafts were originally intended for use in reed valve carbed engines. Their operating range is ideal though with engines whose carb content. is mounted directly on the cylinder itself. Extensive development of crankshafts on the German/Austrian racing scene recently enabled the 40 PS mark to be reached and even exceeded without the use of nitrous oxide. The different crank design concepts all start with the starting point crankshaft (from Mazzuchelli) as a basis.
The idea behind the crankshaft at the starting point is to allow an increase in compression of the fuel mixture before it reaches the combustion zone above the piston (HPC). With crankcase in line valve engines it cannot be helped that the entire crankshaft tele circle interrupts the flow of gases inside the crankcase rather abruptly. Using a cylinder where the carb content. is mounted directly on it, like the 177ccM1XL Quattrini, releases the true potential of a HPC crankshaft design. This combination allows for higher engine revs and extra power.
Mazzuchelli crankshafts are made of hard, wear-resistant materials, have minimal machining tolerances and very low bearing play. High rpm and long life are therefore guaranteed. If your needs are not met with this engine we recommend taking the LPC route (bell-shaped crankshaft cobwebs, etc.)
Result: Highly recommendable in combination with carb cylinder fitted. configurations (e.g. Quattrini 177cc) The most reasonably priced crankshaft type for most valved reed conversions.
