VMC X1 crankcase for Vespa Small Frame model REED
The evolution of Vespa tuning is constantly evolving and VMC has also decided to create specific crankcases for small-frame Vespas that can accommodate the most powerful and larger-displacement thermal kits available on the market.
VMC has designed and manufactured crankcases capable of responding to these needs and created the VMC X1 crankcases.
The Vespa Smallframe VMC X1 crankcases are made of aluminium alloy, cast in sand moulds and CNC machined in Italy and checked for dimensions with high precision instruments.
Compared to Piaggio crankcases and semi-standard aftermarket versions, VMC crankcases feature technical improvements that place them at a higher level and make them the indispensable basis for those who want a safe product made by enthusiasts for enthusiasts.
The VMC X1 crankcases have the following technical characteristics:
- innovative removable gear cable tie rod fixing system which, combined with our gear cable sheaths with external tie rods, speeds up engine changes and gear control cable tension adjustment
- increased wall thicknesses for greater resistance to mechanical stress
- a very large cylinder support base and a lot of material in the underlying part which allows the creation of very generously sized transfers
- cylinder inlet bored to 64.5mm to be able to fit Vmc cylinders diam.60mm 144cc without having to do any further work
- rotary valve in crank chamber already removed to be able to work the intake port for the reed valve pack as preferred
- boring of crank chamber on both sides of crank with a diameter of 89.50mm and central connecting rod passage of 92.00mm which allows
to fit full shoulder crankshafts from a diameter of 83mm up to a maximum of 89mm
- crankcase closure with 13 M6 Allen screws instead of the classic studs and crankcase half centering with 2 ground pins
- some material has been removed in the gear selector area to allow the installation of gear selectors with a larger mesh
- Flywheel side bearing seat, seat diameter 47 as on the Piaggio 50 special and 125 primavera et3 versions
- The drive arm has a chamfer that allows for the mounting of wide tires such as 3.50 x 10
- All the standard components that are mounted on Piaggio engine crankcases are mounted in the VMC crankcases
In Vmc crankcases the ignition stator plate must be filed in the transfer area before assembly as the crankcase is larger in size.
