Features such as continuously variable spring preload, a truly progressive spring rate, and adjustable rebound damping are just some of the sophisticated features. Technical refinements such as a 14.0 mm thick lift rod, hardened lightweight materials, and an additional guide plate for the upper rubber pads provide additional suspension stability. High-quality materials are as simple as precise, detailed CNC manufacturing and a perfect finish that includes surface protection. A complete mounting kit for the lower engine mount is included with the SIP rear shock absorber unit. This kit contains nuts and bolts to fit all common lower engine mount sizes (M9 and M10). We also include spacer washers to compensate for the varying manufacturing tolerance guidelines of different steering column and shock absorber mounting manufacturers. With this second-generation 2.0 series, the shock absorbers were designed primarily with touring setups in mind. They offer a more comfortable ride over long distances and on poorly maintained roads. The piston shaft diameter has been increased to 14 mm, the lower mounting eyes have been reinforced, and the internal mechanisms and overall design have been reworked. The settings range from maximum comfort to track stiffness.
Spring preload: Continuously variable spring preload means that shock absorber springs can be given a tighter base setting—the forces compressing the spring thus encounter an initial preload. Spring preload is achieved via counter-rings, which, when effectively counter-rotated, provide a significant degree of protection against unwanted adjustments. Naturally, an adjustment tool is also included.
Progressive springs: Our shock absorbers also feature progressive spring rates, which means the clearances between the spring coils become progressively smaller. Only progressive coil springs provide a truly comfortable response when braking or riding with luggage or a passenger. This means the spring initially responds very sensitively but becomes "firmer" with further compression/load. To customize their performance to suit larger riders or other heavy loads, we also offer a selection of springs with varying spring rates and colors.
Rebound damping adjustment: Rebound damping adds a positive touch to the overall package and influences the shock absorber's rebound characteristics, meaning it regulates response when riding on uneven surfaces and potholes, as well as when braking. Depending on the model, there are between 10 and 20 different settings ("clicks") for the rebound level. Turning the rebound damping clockwise increases the damping level, while turning it counterclockwise decreases it (viewed from above).
Conclusion: A successful alternative to conventional shock absorbers that convince not only with their technical characteristics, but also with their style and design quality.
