Power is synonymous with displacement, and to increase displacement, and therefore horsepower, most 200ER engines, both race and street, rely on crankshafts with long stroke times. To balance this increased stroke, spacers are used that are attached to both the base of the cylinder and the head. This also provides an easy way to adjust the engine timing.
With crankshafts with extended stroke time, the crank pin is further from the axle case, about 1.5 mm with 60 mm crankshafts. This extra 1.5 mm pushes the piston past top and bottom dead center. To prevent the piston from touching the cylinder head, spacers can be installed at the base of the cylinder or at the cylinder head, or suitable heads such as SIP / MMW can be used. Timing changes are necessary in both cases. Depending on the type of racing cylinder, several preferred combinations have been identified, which we have compiled for you in our technical department.
For the MALOSSI 210cc, we recommend the following:
- 1.5mm spacer at the base: offers a wide rev range with high power and torque, combined with acceleration right up to the top revs and sudden drops.
- 1.5mm head spacer: Promotes heavier torque and quick response at low revs and lower speeds. This is a preferred combination for touring, especially when paired with a longer gear ratio.
MAZZUCCHELLI long stroke crankshafts feature a more pronounced input timing, similar to racing crankshafts. The connecting rod is supplied with a polished rod and the lower connecting rod bearing is a silver bearing type.
In conclusion, they are a perfect base for powerful engines, both touring with high torque and extreme performance with high power. For those who are looking for even more, we recommend crankshafts with long run time.
**Long Stroke Crankshaft Specifications:**
- Type: Long stroke crankshaft
- Stroke: 60 mm
- Connecting rod: 105-110 mm
- Oil seal diameter: 24 mm
- Bearing diameter: 25mm
- Cone with M12 thread

The above times are for clutch side viewing. For example, "138/6 after TDC" means the inlet timing starts 6 degrees after TDC and stays open for 138 degrees.
Please note that angle degrees are approximate as crankshafts are hand finished.
