The crankshaft is the heart of your engine and it really takes a beating. Crankshafts in engines with a lot of miles on them or driven by speed freaks often have bearings and shaft seal hubs that are worn out or the connecting rod bearings are loose. At every engine service the crankshaft should be replaced.
We only carry high quality standard crankshafts, made in Italy. MAZZUCCHELLI and MEC euro, both from the Milan region, have been producing first class and reasonably priced Vespa crankshafts for decades. Looks, quality and timing are the same as the original PIAGGIO.
At the top, the euro MEC shafts are the very good pressure measurement. Some shafts, like the ETS crankshafts and the automatic PK shafts are original PIAGGIO shafts.
The crankweb on the flywheel side on all shafts measures 82, the other crankweb (gate valve), has 87 mm. The connecting rod on the 50 cc has 87 mm, and from 80 cc and up, 97 mm. Crankshafts are available for the 19/20er, the 20/20er and the 24/25er taper, as well as for the short (43 mm) and long stroke (51 mm). The cranksweb (rotary valve side) of the 43 mm shaft is equipped with an intake timing of 95, the 51 rod 100 mm. The ETS shaft is clearly a highlight and struts it stuff with an intake timing of 126. The flywheel side bearing and the shaft hub seal is also reinforced and thicker. If used in a V50/PK/PV/ET3 casing engine, a bearing / shaft ring conversion is necessary. All crankshafts are supplied with upper connecting rod bearings. For those who like sports, go for a racing crankshaft. They offer not only a longer suction moment, they also have 'Messerpleuel' a special polished rod with a high quality silver bearing. Result: solid and good products. Perfect for engine overhaul and effective with decent tuning.
