The design of these shock absorber adapters is closely based on the ORIGINAL parts, but our versions are individually CNC-machined from a sturdy billet of aluminum alloy and then anodized in an attractive shade of black. Compared directly to the layout of the original part, our versions allow the shock absorber to be positioned 17.5 mm or just 7 mm higher towards the top mount, bringing the front of the scooter closer to the ground.
Our most minimalist 7mm version is plug-and-play compatible with almost all aftermarket shock absorbers currently available for this scooter and can be fitted without any further modifications. If you prefer an extreme conversion, you'll certainly appreciate the advantages of the 17.5mm version. Thanks to its unique design, it is only compatible with shock absorbers manufactured by ZELIONI, RACING BROS, and our own SIP shock absorbers. All other currently available shock absorbers quickly reach their limits and come into contact with the conversion mounting plate, making it impossible to ride. Depending on the brand of shock absorber chosen for use and its external dimensions, the fender may require minor modification. A hole must then be drilled to prevent the shock absorber mount from colliding with the edge of the fender.
What are the main advantages of a lowered front suspension?
These modified shock absorber mounting plates lower the front end of the scooter, while also reducing the operating angle of the longitudinal link suspension mechanism. This results in a lower center of gravity for the scooter and a significantly more relaxed shock absorber rebound. This facilitates much smoother suspension and significantly improves directional stability at higher speeds.
Conclusion: The final piece of the suspension upgrade puzzle. If you're serious about upgrading your Vespa GTS's suspension, there's no way you can't fit a decent set of shock absorbers and a lowered frame!
