Increased impulse leads to increased displacement, which in turn translates into higher horsepower. This is why most 200cc engines, both racing and street, prefer crankshafts with longer stroke times. To compensate for this increased stroke, spacers are installed at both the base of the cylinder and the head. This also provides a simple way to adjust the timing.
With longer stroke lengths, the crankpin is further from the axle housing. For example, with 60 mm crankshafts, this distance is 1.5 mm. This additional 1.5 mm pushes the piston past top and bottom dead center. To prevent the piston from touching the cylinder head, you can install spacers at the base of the cylinder or at the head, or use suitable cylinder heads such as those SIP /MMW. In any case, adjustments to the timing are required. Depending on the type of racing cylinder, several preferred combinations have been identified, which our technical department has compiled for you.
MAZZUCCHELLI long-stroke crankshafts feature a more pronounced intake timing, similar to racing crankshafts. The connecting rod is supplied with a polished connecting rod, and the lower connecting rod bearing is a silver-plated one.
In conclusion, these long-stroke crankshafts are the perfect foundation for powerful engines, whether high-torque touring or high-performance, high-horsepower. For those who want even more, we recommend opting for long-stroke crankshafts.
**Long Stroke Crankshaft Specifications:**
- Type: Long stroke crankshaft
- Stroke: 60 mm
- Connecting rod: 105-110 mm
- Oil seal diameter: 24 mm
- Bearing diameter: 25 mm
- Cone with M12 thread
- Connecting rod bearing included
**Suggestions :**
- Use SIP /MMW long stroke cylinder heads with the MALOSSI 210cc.
- Install 1.5mm base gaskets.
- Consider using SIP Performance/RZ/DSE, MALOSSI or POLINI exhausts.
- Try different base/head gasket combinations to find the one that best suits your needs.
The timings above were determined from the clutch-side perspective. For example, "138/6 after TDC" indicates that the intake valve timing begins 6 degrees after TDC and remains open for 138 degrees.
Please note that angle degrees are approximate as crankshafts are hand finished.
