Installing the crankshaft

Many variants feature particularly long strokes, making it necessary to adapt the crankcase. Generally speaking:

• The crankcase must be at least 1 mm larger than the shaft diameter
• It is essential to check that there are sufficient material reserves
• Often it is sufficient to work the small half of the crankcase
• It may be necessary to remove the sliding surface in the large half
• In more compact crankcases, the transition between the crankcase and the base of the cylinder must be rounded to create space for the connecting rod.
