Ultra-high performance racing exhaust with a particularly wide power band suitable for everyday use.

Where a four-stroke engine requires valves, a camshaft, an exhaust system, and a turbo, a two-stroke simply requires a well-designed exhaust system. A few pieces of sheet metal are molded to create a shape that perfectly matches the layout and size of the openings in the cylinder, known as transfer and exhaust ports. The design of the resonance chamber not only influences the removal of hot exhaust gases, but the pulse effect also influences the flow of fresh fuel mixture into the cylinder. On modern two-strokes, this technology is the main reason for their superiority over four-stroke engines.

As simple as the description may seem, creating a properly formed expansion chamber body is a science in itself. This is where the wheat is separated from the chaff. Truly good exhaust manufacturers are as rare as raw steak and often only produce limited runs, making their products typically expensive.

NORDSPEED, based in Bremen in northern Germany, enjoys an almost legendary reputation for producing excellent racing exhausts for vintage Vespa and Lambretta scooters.

The systems created by Tobi Rüßmann for the large 200cc Vespa models represent an absolute benchmark in the world of exhaust design. The limited space between the cylinder pins, which leaves the transfer ports with a limited amount of air to breathe, is his area of expertise, and his exhaust design makes the most of this unusual engine layout.

SIP and NORDSPEED have joined forces in this field and the result is exhaust systems with the most powerful design, combined with modern features such as EGT and the possibility of connecting a lambda sensor.

Technical specifications of all SORD NORDSPEED exhaust systems:

- O-ring flange, suitable for all common cylinders.

- EGT connector.

- Lambda sensor connector.

- The flanged plate allows the attachment of the most common silencers.

Mustang II

The Mustang II represents a measured compromise between high-performance systems, the highest performance levels like the R2, and those designed for strong torque delivery. It has a very broad powerband and, despite its useful everyday flexibility, delivers very high power output. This places the Mustang II among the most powerful systems available in this market segment.

The Mustang II can truly unleash its full potential only when combined with suitable peripheral components such as a larger carburetor, appropriately modified inlet ports, and of course a performance cylinder with large transfer ports. To ensure the Mustang II exhaust functions properly, the cylinder port timing must be adjusted to match the pipe layout.

- Transfer port timing: 130°-138°

- Exhaust port timing: 188°-198°

Bottom line: The perfect exhaust to complement a very powerful street engine setup, complete with a wide powerband and a balanced combination of high torque and high horsepower.

SIP TIP: A properly adjusted carburetor and ignition are essential for a reliable engine. Tools such as a strobe light (#FS118600) and a degree wheel (#83002000) are available in the SIP store. Carburetor jets should be from the same reputable manufacturer, as different manufacturers work with different manufacturing tolerances. We recommend purchasing a jet kit from SIP or KMT.
