Leva frizione PIAGGIO, 0979844 - B016418 Per Vespa 125 Rally PX80 - 200
Clutch lever, replaces the original lever on the clutch cover
Vespa clutches are mechanically operated by a clutch cable. This cable connects to the lever on the clutch cover. Once the clutch lever on the handlebar is pulled, this lever, via the piston pin and pressure plate, compresses the clutch. From the handlebar lever, to the clutch cable, to the lever on the clutch cover, to the piston and pressure plate, there is a chain of components that are all important for the clutch to function. Only when all the links in this chain are in good condition will the clutch function properly. A worn lever or piston can prevent the clutch from separating properly or cause it to slip.
Are original spare parts available?
Unfortunately, Piaggio has stopped producing important spare parts for many scooters. Once this happens, it becomes increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to find these items. As a result, some scooters may be off the road simply because a small, simple component is no longer available. At SIP , we try to keep all the parts needed to keep your scooter running. If Piaggio doesn't produce them, we look for a manufacturer that does. If there isn't one, or if the quality doesn't meet our standards, we produce them ourselves. No scooter should be off the road because it can't find the clutch lever.
XL2 Clutch
Clutch lever for the final version of the Vespa Smallframe range. The XL2 clutch is not only the best Piaggio clutch design in terms of clutch force and overall functionality, but it is also the starting point for all modern smallframe tuning clutches. This applies in particular to the clutch cover and the compression arrangement with its ratchet lever and piston pin. Thanks to this design, even a clutch with the heaviest spring can be engaged with little left-hand force. Therefore, XL2 covers and their mechanics are used not only in the XL2 engines for which they were designed, but in virtually all engines for which this upgrade is an option. Another reason for SIP to ensure that the parts are actually available.
The XL clutch levers are available in two lengths. The shorter version allows for greater piston compression travel, although it requires slightly stronger hands. The second version is easier to pull, but doesn't compress the clutch as much.
SIP TIP: Check all clutch-related components and replace any worn or damaged ones. It's best to include them in your order (pressure plate, clutch cables, clutch piston).
