- Type: Digital
- Power supply: Batteries (not included)
Properly set ignition timing is essential for any engine.
The SIP digital ignition timing gauge is a very practical tool that should not be missing from any well-equipped workshop. It allows for optimal engine ignition timing. It can be used on two- and four-stroke engines, whether it's a vintage Vespa or Lambretta, or a 50-180cc two- or four-stroke automatic scooter. To facilitate simple and precise positioning of the ignition timing gauge, the SIP graduated disk features three holes to accept long mounting bolts. This allows for mounting by simply drilling three holes in the battery compartment, making timing readings even easier.
Instructions:
- Determine Top Dead Center (TDC)
- Mark the position of the arrow on the flywheel on the crankcase with a marker.
- Attach the degree disc and align the 0 with the marking on the crankcase.
- Also mark the desired ignition point (counterclockwise) on the crankcase.
- Remove the ignition disc, start the scooter, and use the strobe light to check the desired ignition by marking the lines with the arrow on the flywheel. Readjust the position of the stator plate until the correct position is found. To save time and effort during subsequent maintenance, permanently mark both the crankcase and stator to record their relative positions.

A crucial factor when tuning an engine is correctly set ignition timing. The SIP timing dial is a practical tool that should be in every workshop. This dial allows for optimal setup of your ignition system. It is compatible with all two-stroke engines, including all Vespa and Lambretta models, and even 50-180cc two-stroke automatic scooter engines. Tips can be found on the dial itself by scanning the QR code.
Conclusion: An essential tool for every mechanic, whether hobbyist or professional!
